Christmas in June

After a Month of being absolutely slammed it was time for a quick Hobo Escape. So I packed up the car and went exploring. Having driven in from Evanston through Mirror Lake Highway before I was fascinated with the name of an area just inside the Forest Service boundary, Christmas Meadows was calling my name.

I grabbed the Hobo Kit from the shop complete with a hammock and headed out early Monday to ensure maximum relaxation time. I was also test driving the new Alps Mountaineering Jetstream Foam Sleeping Pad, and the experience was most excellent.

One of the other bonuses of the early departure was a run to Evanston, WY for full strength Beer. So, from Kamas, an hour and twenty minutes to the store for supplies and food, then twenty minutes back to camp. So door to campsite from our shop was right at an hour. Needless to say with a view like this, I'll be back.

There are even some old facilities in the area if one is so inclined.

The area has a developed campground for $18 a night, but there are also tons of free campsites dispersed all along FS0057. So for an adventure that feels a world away try Chirstmas in the Summer.

What a Peekend!

Our Sneak Peekend was a HUGE SUCCESS! We had almost no break over two days with constant traffic and some nice sales coming through the door. We got some great inventory and had people really enjoy the space. The Free Coffee was a hit as you can see. The layout of the shop really allowed people to feel at home and everyone seemed to really like the wood detailing that we did. Thanks to everyone that came out.

The Bike Shop seemed to be a great addition to Kamas. Loads of people are very happy to have a local option and not have to go to Park City or Salt Lake for their tuneups and sundry items.

We had a ton of people in the shop, but didn't get photos because, well you know, we were busy talking to everyone. The bikes tell the story.

After everyone brought us gear we are getting stocked up with some great gear. We hope to see folks stop in for some great deals Thursday through forever as we open for good. Tomorrow and Wednesday we will be finalizing some of the Product displays and trying to get out in the woods ourselves. Come see us when you can get out. Mother's Day Bike Tune Special will be announced later this week! SO stay tuned to our blog and Facebook to get in on the deal.

Welcome to the outfitter store for the Uintas. Authentic feel real wood and rustic nature. We are your gateway to a great time in the mountains.

The view from our end in the shop doesn't suck either!

Busy as Bees

It has been a busy start to the week for us at the shop. We are done framing all of the counters and seating area, now we are on to finish and facade, we are using log ends from Blazzard Lumber to detail the look and smell of the space by creating a unique wainscoting. We will have rough-sawn barnwood as a shelf on the top.

The retail counter looks amazing now that it's done like we built it out of logs!

It is these kinds of details and craftsmanship we are depending on to create a unique character to our small space. Soft opening this weekend.

Good Times were had by ALL, including the pooches!

Today was a great day, Work started early at the shop, then Ryan Blitch and his lady Rachel Mosier stopped in for a cruise up to Wolf Creek Pass to see how the snow was, the answer is simple, check out these great photos she shot!

After the much needed time in nature, we got back at it, hard, in the shop and finished out the bike repair and camping rental area. The shop is really coming together!

Move along..

Sometimes in life you feel like you will have a productive, fast moving day, you expect help or you think you have a problem solved and things will move at a rocket's pace. However, the Universe tends to show you things can be fast moving and productive, but not in the way you thought. Today was one of those days. We were able to frame out the retail counter, which will be finished tomorrow and started framing out the repair bench, but not quite as much was done as we had hoped...in that regard.

Instead we were greated with a number of visitors, which was even better in the grand sceme of things, you know, that pesky 30,000 foot view. We had Jimmy Ray from CitiRide Park City stop by, Katie from Artique and a few other random folks looking for Uintas Beta. It has begun, without us even knowing it. The general consensus seems to be squarely on support. Come by say hey.
